With 2 Shoes being the first group evicted off the X Factor last weekend I started thinking about my own shoe collection, which pair’s can carry on through to the winter and which pair’s need to be evicted from my shoe closet to make room for new Autumn/Winter styles.
It was a hard choice but I came to a decision and was actually quite brutal with some of my most loved shoes. The next step was to search for new shoe talent to replace the discarded.
Here’s what I found!
I first came across the Smoking Slipper, which is quickly becoming the ballet pump of today. Everyone from Christian Louboutin and Charlotte Olympia to Topshop and Aldo are doing the slipper shoe.
This is a great example of the smoking slipper from designer Sam Edelman, available on My-Wardrobe.com for £145. How amazing are the studs!!??
Next is the Loafer. Normally known to be a mens style of shoe, however this season the loafer has been feminized with a stacked heel and a wedge platform, but of course you can always go for the classic flat loafer if you prefer. Currently Russell & Bromley have some beautiful loafers available all ranging from £110 to £175, but if you don’t have 1oo quid to splash out on shoes then no worries high street stores like Topshop, New Look, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins all have a great selection of loafers this season.
Check out this block heeled loafer from River Island, originally £60 but now only £30.
Carrying on with the male theme, Chelsea boots and Brogues are making their way into women’s wardrobes everywhere. Topshop is a great place to find variations of both of these styles.
Like every season the selection of shoe styles is very diverse and this season in particular the choice just seems to be endless. Pike toes are back, round toes are staying, ankle boots, thigh high boots, courts in all sorts of materials from satin to suede and with wild prints. Even Brothel Creepers are sneaking their way back in. Wedges, stacked heels, stilettos, chunky heels, small heel, buckles, lace ups, the shoe world is your oyster so don’t be scared to experiment this season with different styles, materials and prints.
Happy Shoe Shopping.
